I feel that one must look at the times in which AR was writing. These inflamatory titles were nothing in his day merely lables such as capitalist or socicialist or bohemian. As AR was tottally against such labels one must realize that a man who counted a pure jamaican or hindu as a friend could not see the world as would a person who has been conditioned by our current media. AR would be appalled by such small visions. He would have defended himself as he always did by saying that no such divisions existed in his (perfect) lake district. He also would defy anyone to pick out the Syrian identity of his protagonists or the actual identity or heredity of any of his coots. I suggest that anyone looking for umbarage is in the same catagorie as the ones who search for class or sexual distinction or lack thereof in the stories. The kids of those days like those of today do not make those distinctions the adults woho insist on harrassing and supervising the kids do so themselves and it is a sad commentary on those who participate.
