I suspect there is a lot more in this than meets the eye, and I also suspect
that the Lakes locals know more about this than they are letting on. No,
Gordon, we are not to be fobbed off with a PR-filled website.

My initial researches indicate that there is a lot more to this than meet the eye.

I'm a great fan of the WSM regarding it as an example of all that is best in UK
steam heritage conservation and operation. It's demise in it's current form is for
many a matter of great regret. If, we try to unearth what is really happening and
then make our views known to the appropriate authorities, in an attempt to ensure
that the most valuable aspects of the current museum are preserved for future
generations, such behaviour seems to me to be entirely in keeping with the ethos
of the UK's steam heritage movement.

Gordon's posts I value as being the views of a professional waterman, but the link
he gives to the Lakeland Arts Trust WWW page, is exactly the same as the second
link that I posted in my message 26166 several days ago!

If anyone else knows some of the story, but cannot go on the record, then please
e-mail me and I will use the information on a non-atributable basis. I am hoping
to report back on TarBoard by Wednesday 22 November.
