The Susan geography reference comes on Page 212 (SD 27th Imp 1965) of the Chapter "Suprise Attack", John.
I find these outline guides very useful, but I do have trouble with the end date in SD. The phrase in the last chapter "there'll be grouse shooting all over these moors tomorrow", can only refer to the 12th August when the grouse shooting season commences. This would make the start date 2 days earlier which could tie in with the Swallows having travelled on a Saturday.
