Hm David - good point about the Vikings and the Amazons, although if their many greated aunt was kidnapped, you might think hatred of sea travel would be more likely if such things are inheritable. Interesting why people are drawn to the things they do, especially if there is no family history of it.
John and Roger's goal of the Navy is understandable - part emulation of Father and part family expectation, but where does Roger's mechanical bent come from? Titty is her mother's daughter with all the imagination going but why is Susan not as imaginative, preferring to focus on the minutae of howsewifery. Her mother is practical as all mothers of five children tend to be, but Susan seems to be more-so, considering her age.
