A foot rag of a rather different odour I would claim.
Blue Treacle was described in the catalogue as a "metaphysical fantasy". From the extract it seems AR attempts some sort of philosophical speculation/ pedagogy in a manner reminiscent of "Sophie's World". I wondered if anyone had read it and if they could paraphrase AR's drift. (Can't be that hard if it was written for a 4 year old, or is it?)
Personally, I'm intrigued by AR's trajectory from Bohemianism, via Bolshevikism to "politics fishing" and the influence this has on the 12 S&A books. (One example is the contrast between the GA's child-care regime and the all together more arm's length style practiced by Mrs Blackett and Walker.) Also remembering AR's Bohemianism helps protect him from annexation by Telegraph reading Naval blimps.
P.S. bet there is more discussion on whether the Navy had blimps than on AR's metaphysics
