Where I am, everyone says "vacuuming", which I think is pretty common in the US. I've only heard "hoovering" on BBC shows & in English movies. "Luxing" in one I've never run into. We removed our wall-to-wall carpeting (I think in the UK there is another term for this?), so now I "sweep"--same word everywhere????

One of my favorites is "TV" (here) and "telly" (UK). To me, the latter sounds a bit silly, maybe because it rhymes with belly & jelly.... I suppose TV sounds odd to most of you :-)
