"Hmm. An interesting question. You want a topic that hasn't previously
been done done to death on TarBoard."
I feel you have missed a golden opportunity here, Jock.
We have not examined the question of whether Bob Blackett is really dead.
We know he is not present and Nancy is upset. But does this mean he is really dead?
Is he serving a life sentence for murder? Perhaps he is awaiting hanging? Did he murder the great aunt's sister in mistake for the GA?
Perhaps he has "dun a runner" and is now living in sin in the Antipodes?
With Mary Walker's sister? (wouldn't you want to leave with Nancy as a daughter?)
Perhaps he was marooned in Haiti and is now one of the undead?
The possibilities are endless.
Maybe he is dead and his ghost stalks Beckfoot at night ringing bells and flushing the lavatories. (the phantom flusher?)
