There were two Roland Pertwee books about the same group of characters. The other one is Rough Water, I have a battered copy at home and will check publication date on that tonight. Isn' t Roland Pertwee a member of a quite well-known family ? Jon Pertwee was an actor on TV a million years ago? Relative?
I agree entirely with Dave about Enid Blyton. The WHOLE POINT of the AR books, for me as a child, was that you could do all that yourself.
