New Zealand certainly isn't part of Zeeland

There are at least two places called New Britain, neither of which is in Britain, though one of them is in New England.

A lot of rather old places and things in Britain have 'new' in their names, most famously New College, Oxford (founded 1379), Newcastle upon Tyne (so called since 1080) and the New Forest (so called since 1079).
