As 'G' and 'C' are rather similar in appearance, the casual proof-reader (if you'll pardon the oxymoron) or reader can easily misinterpret what was actually entered, while 'W', 'S' and 'P' are quite distinctly different so opportunities for confusion are reduced. There's also the point which Alan brought up that CITN existed for a time as a draft (whether abandoned, back-burnered, or still under development) contemporaneously with GN, bringing about further opportunities for confusion.
