Another great book which has an ending in The Walton Backwaters is D H Clarke's East Coast Passage. It features the hair-raising voyage of a 60-year old Thames Barge in deteriorating weather conditions from Brigg, down the Humber, to a safe and sheltered mooring behind Stone Point. The author knew all about AR and SW and it was arguably this knowledge that saved his and his family's life.

The book deserves to be much better known. It can be obtained for 20 - 50 $ from AbeBooks or for a mere 9.90 zloty in Polish!
