That's sad news. Pauline certainly lived up to her claim to be an Amazon pirate. I've written about several happy memories of Pauline in earlier postings to Tarboard, especially her and my (then) teenage son Ian exploring the battlements of Piel Castle. They looked a right pair of pirates, Ian with his pony-tail Pauline in her red cap. If she was the original for Peggy she demonstrated how Peggy's character may have developed by being more Nancyish than Nancy as hinted at in WH. Does anyone know what Georgina was like?
