Hear, Hear

I can well see ROTS not appealing at first sight to Dot, especially in the days before she had been bitten with the sailing bug. But she could well have come back to it later.

The arrival of Carruthers in Flensburg, expecting a large posh yach with professional crew and finding the Dulcibella is surely one of the highest points in all sailing literature.

OK, Davies' enthusiasm for the coming war - and elements of Buchan's Richard Hannay stories - would not be acceptable if written today, but it would be sad not to read such gripping books just because they contain these passages.
