The pub which most resembled AR's description of the Roaring Donkey was the Lock Inn at Geldeston. But this is miles away from the site in BS - at the very head of navigation of the Waveney.

The old pub used to be quiet, tatty, full of atmosphere, and no doubt utterly unviable. Today it still has a vestige of the right atmosphere inside the original building, but has two huge and rather unfortunately designed extensions which spoil the outside appearance.

There is no pike.
