Its all part of our fantasies - you can be whomever you wish with an internet nom de plume. Authors have done it for years for various reasons. Sometimes we know the author's real name, as in Mark Twain (Samual Clemens), or George Elliot (Mary Ann Evans) and sometimes it is more difficult to ferret out the authors real name, if one wishes - and if I remember correctly, it took quite a while for anyone to realize that George Elliot was a woman.
I really doubt if anyone on this forum is out to scam anyone (at least we hope not - and if so, be soon found out!). And I think "Jock" and the "3rdamazon" monikers have a nice ring to them!
