Casting Americans in British roles generally causes great offence.
Peter Duck is generaly one of the least popular stories and not, I would say,
one of the best choices to film.
Arthur Ransome's stories can be filmed well. Coot Club and The Big Six are
very good, much better than Swallows and Amazons. The difference I suspect
is more in the running time than anything else. The BBC managed to keep
closer to the story than Swallows and Amazons but then they had almost 2
hours to play with rather than the whatever (74 mins is it) the film is.
