Peter H: you're absolutely right, I did undermine my own argument. I've no excuse for my quip other than a moment of annoyance.
My apologies to those who take more pleasure than I from the less obvious themes within AR's work; such discussions are surely every bit as valid as my simple curiosity into what type of chocolate Roger might have eaten. I humbly admit that had I not found such discussions here, my understanding of AR's books and his world would not have been as well rounded as it ought to be.
