Why? What harm has the Cutty Sark ever done you, Peter? Whatever the rights and wrongs of the work that has been done to her, she has given a lot of people an enormous amount of pleasure over the years. And she was a lovely sight at Greenwich especially if you approached by water. And I would have thought that that alone would have appealed to AR and those who enjoy his books - for the pleasure of what he tells us about boats and sailing in them. The replica Golden Hinde equally gives a lot of pleasure to children and adults alike all year round. And I remember going around the Victory with Toby when he was 11/12 (now in Iraq and aged 24) at a TARS IAGM and enjoying it immensely. The Victory will never sail again but it is still a joy to clamber over her and put the imagination into overdrive........
