That sounds a good constructive project, and I wish you luck with it. I assume you will be featuring your love of Arthur Ransome's books in the life story, and explaining their fascination for you. And the inclusion of 'oodles of emails and letters' often enhances an autobiography - the snag, of course, is that you will need to get the permissions to publish them from all the authors/senders, as required by UK Law, but it's worth persevering with this.
