Apologies for being in hibernation when A C-B posted this reference to Rattletrap. Veteran TarBoarders will already have seen these pictures. Newer TarBoarders may be interested in seeing this (my very own original contribution to the 'origin of the Amazons' question):

After extensive debate on TarBoard a consensus seemed to emerge that 'Rattletrap' was a caricatured Crossley. It may be significant that the young Ruth Crossley received a 'baby' Crossley car as a birthday present. N.B. In the Rattletrap postings no mention was made of the possible Crossley girls/Blacketts linkage.

The definitive version of Iain Hobbs's article (the Hobbsian Hypothesis) was published on IF NOT DUFFERS... a considerable time later. An earlier version was published in the TARS house magazine about ten years ago.
