If the Murrelets or any other TARS want to come to The Broads and explore "In the wake of Teasel", we would be very happy to help.
We first came here on a sailing holiday around 10 years ago and moved to Ludham (half way between Horning and Potter Heigham) in 1992. We have sailed most of the Broads system, and have developed a pretty good knowledge of the Broads as they are now, and as they relate to AR's books.
If any TARS have questions about practical matters, eg. how do you get a Broads Authority licence to put your boat on the Broads, where can you find slipways, can you still catch pike here, where can you get hold of tourist information, how do you navigate through the Yarmouth tides, etc. we can probably help.
If any TARS would like to cruise together, we would be happy to co-ordinate. And, in case any TARS are interested, we do Bed and Breakfast from our home in Ludham (see http://www.whiteswan.u-net.com/malthouse/index.html), and let sailing boats and one motor cruiser (see http://www.whiteswan.u-net.com/sailing/index.html) from Martham Ferry boatyard - on the dyke where the Roaring Donkey, AR's only ficticious location in his Broads books, was supposed to be situated.
Although some parts of the Broads have become more developed since AR's time, most of the landscape is much the same. Sailing is becoming more popular while the motor cruisers, which were very numerous at one point, are now becoming fewer - we have been told that the numbers of hired motor cruisers has halved over the past 20 years. There are now two restored trading wherries moored at Womack Water just down the road from our house, there are many nature reserves (particularly bird reserves), and the landscape is as beautiful as ever.
We think that AR would be very pleased.
