This is always an interesting perspective - that children can't understand. I remember reading lots of very un-PC stuff as a kid but to me it was books - not real life. I've no idea whether I was unique or not, but I know that for instance, racism wasn't an issue in my primary school and we had a very mixed bunch. Ability was all - our best athlete happened to be an Indian girl, our best at Arithmetic was Maori, I was (briefly) best at swimming. We were simply kids in the 60's.
