I have a significant connection to Penetanguishene, in fact I will be spending two weeks holiday there in a couple of weeks. I don't think that anyone around here would describe it as Northern Ontario! It is less than two hours from Toronto.

As far as I know there is no ban on taking walleye or pickerel of any size from Georgian Bay. The Ministry fishing regulations do say that you can only have one walleye, caught in Georgian Bay, longer than 22 inches in your possession. Walleye are the most popular fish in our part of the world and over 8 million are caught annually in Ontario.

There are lots of cormorants though but I don't think they are Chinese. They don't eat walleye as such as those are far too big to swallow even if the cormorants don't have rings round their necks. Cormorants compete with the larger fish for the smaller ones which they both enjoy.
