Sorry, I started this post and then went on another blasted conference. Then I had to fix this computer network and I have spent the last 4 hours with No 3 daughter asleep in my arms.

1. I am a bit lost as to how the front door is on the northern side of the house. The northern side of the house is the river side.

2. I think you meant the eastern side. I have long debated as to whether this is a doorway or a window. I tend to think it is a window.

3. I think the main entrance is on the southern wall facing the hill. This makes sense as vehicles drive into the main yard, deposit the people and then can proceed to the stables, or garage as it became.

4. The design of the house lends itself well to the theory that there are two staircases. One for the upstairs folk and one for the downstairs folk.
