It's known as 'personality'. In PM, AR makes the point explicitly that Nancy shares this. She's lively and expects others to do what she says, and in general this works. I worked in TV for 30 years, much of it as a producer, and never ever had to give an explicit order; in that kind of job, you don't, but provided it makes sense, people jolly well do what you suggest. I had many women editors and producers who were in charge of programmes that I made. I guess most of them would have made superb Nancys, although of course adult Nancys. They were all hugely attractive, sexy even; I loved them all. In fact one of them (a colleague rather than a boss) was Barbara Altounian, the real Roger's daughter. She was the same.

Nothing to do with class, all a matter of confidence and energy.
