So, then, it seems that the Maria Turner was more like Hyacinth Bucket (Bouquet) in the British comedy series "Keeping Up Appearances" who is NOT upper crust, her husband has a mundane job, she lives in a standard house with a very plain car, etc.; - but, she aspires to the "upper" levels and makes everyone miserable trying to acheive that preceived status -- are there not parallels here?
