I fear you are right - the definition goes right off as you cross the coast. The Pye Sand is clear enough, but you can't see the buoys of the channel in from Pye End - or even the Beach End and the other buoys of the main shipping channel into Harwich.

Yet my tiny mooring buoy opposite Pin Mill stands out! Perhaps because the water there was calm at the time the picture was taken.
