Thank you Owen for linking this rather wayward thread back to AR.

A friend of mine once had an 'AR moment' inside a canal tunnel. Many years ago (before all such places had been securely fenced off) he was exploring a disused canal tunnel somewhere in the Midlands in a Thames skiff. Deep inside the tunnel there was a large chamber whose roof had collapsed revealing greenery and daylight. My friend and his companions climbed up the rubble and crawled out muddy, but triumphant. They found themselves in a large caged off area. It took a moment to get used to the bright daylight after the darkness of the tunnel. They gradually became aware of the presence of a large crowd of people dressed in their Sunday best staring at them from outside the enclosure. The brightest member of the crew opined that they had emerged in the monkey enclosure of a certain well known zoo. Taking one last look at the gathering crowd the muddy explorers slowly and solemnly descended again into the depths from which they had come.
