Speaking as another of those colonials, let me support Phil. Beer in the U.K. is indeed
served at its proper temperature -- for beer with flavor...er, 'flavour'. Myself I suspect
that the real reason American beer is served so cold is to mask the taste.

As far as meat pies go, the ones served cold are in fact intended for the purpose and the
recipe is designed to cook and preserve the contents of the pie -- just think of it as an
early sandwich with more flavour, Ed!
