In the interval between PICTS and GN, Dennis Bird wrote SWALLOWS & CO, a story which Amazon published last year in a severely limited edition (so I imagine there is no point hoping you can buy a copy). This dealt with the question of just what the Swallows and Amazons did when another bunch of children decided to camp on Wild Cat Island.

The book is listed on http://www.dcta.com/AR/Lost%20Leaves%20AR%20books.rtf at $150!!!!!

113. BIRD, DENNIS L. Swallows & Co. : A S & A story inspired by the early Arthur Ransome books. Kendall UK: Amazon Publications, [1945] 2006. 1st Edition in a facsimile copy of the original handwritten mauuscript. . 155pp. Limited subscription of 350 copies. this is copy #205 Square 12mo. Softbound. As new condition.
Dennis Bird wrote this book as a 14 year old teenager in 1945 when he was bedridden with a severe cold. A must book for any Ransome lover, includes two laid in postcards of gravesite & church. (15004) $150.00
