We know that Holly Howe is based on *part* of Ground Bank Farm, which had guests back in the days when Ransome was writing. I haven't read Winter Holiday in some time, and that book maybe has clues about how common guests were at Jacksons, or if Holly Howe were the same size as Ground Bank Farm or smaller. I think we will always have an overlap of how we think of the sites in the books and the real places that we know they were based on.
