My father, Robert Havard, was a member of the Inklings. In our house AR was very popular and the five of us were avid readers of the S&A series. I am sure I would have heard if he had ever met AR or if there had been any direct connection. On the other hand, C.S.Lewis, a children's author himself (as was J.R.R.Tolkein), was interested in trends in children's literature and may have corresponded with AR although I've never heard of it.
