Laurence,
From time to time I bother some of the worthy people in this group to ask them to air a posting for me. For some horrible reason, the system will not accept my username and password. I have discussed this with Ian, but he is at a loss too. Until we figure it out, could I ask you to post this for me. Thanks. John Lambert

"As Laurence says, away from the land, the sea is blue, really and truly a most incredible blue. It's most obvious in tropical climes, but the Med is deep purplish blue and the Caribbean is the most amazing turquoise, shading to a pale green in the shallows. To me, the Channel has a slaty-blue look, not really grey at all. The Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the mainland has a greenish cast. I know exactly what Peter Duck meant when he talked about blue water. When you sail south and approach the tropic of cancer at night the wind suddenly becomes soft and wraps you like a warm silky blanket. During the day when the butter melts and the sun fries your skin, look out to sea. You'll see blue water."
