Yes Laurence, I'm sure that he did. It's just that the Noon Sight is so popular because it's so easy that it is difficult to get it wrong. Another popular sighting is to bracket the noon with shots either side of the zenith, and then to calculate what the time was when the sun reached its zenith, or local noon.
