Unless you count Peter Rabbit of course.

Of course. There are important parallels between the Beatrix Potter nursery books and the S & A canon. The absent father theme is one. Peter Rabbit's father was put in a pie by Mrs Mcgregor and his son's approach to rules is similar to that of the Amazon pirates. Mrs Twichett also appears to be bringing up her kittens without the benefit of a father. She has serious problems in trying to control Tom. The adventures take place in the Lake District countryside about half way between Lake Windermere and Lake Coniston and the author makes it clear that she prefers life in the countryside to life in the town. Susan says somewhere regarding the D's that people shouldn't be allowed to be brought up in towns. Finally the natural cooling arrangements in Mrs Twichett's dairy provide us with an important clue as to how the Beckfoot larder kept food cool in summer.
