My mother taught me how to make "scrambled eggs" but I wonder whether it was actually a form of buttered eggs.

My method was to melt some butter in a small pan over a low heat. Add some milk (or cream) salt and pepper to taste and warm until almost boiling. Break the eggs into the milk/butter mixture and immediately stir them up with a wooden spoon. Continue to cook slowly over a low heat scraping the egg mixture from the bottom and sides as it cooked until it was a soft and mostly solid. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the eggs to finish cooking for a minute or so before spooning out on a plate with toast and whatever.
