I guess the number of follow up messages is some guide to the popularity of any thread. When I nervously let fly 'The Pork Pie's East European Cousin', I had no idea that it would generate 49 follow up messages . .

Oh, but I have never doubted the popularity of the 'Plumbing n' Pork Pie' topics - that is why fuddy-duddies like me are on the run. It all reminds me of Alan Bennett's play 'Forty Years On', in which the boys put on a daring new play written by one of the younger trendy teachers, and every now and again the old Headmaster breaks in, saying 'Stop, stop - boys, this has gone far enough!!' (He is ignored, needless to say, but it's a good part, originally played by Sir John Gielgud, so I am willing to play it.)

At this point people may ask - what has the above to do with AR? To which my answer is 'It's all to do with me private life, so there.' But let's end hopefully - maybe one little quiet corner of TarBoard could be reserved for those of us who might want to chat about AR's use of semi-colons? And it is, after all, possible to please everybody - Robert Thompson's recent excellent thread about 'Force' should have delighted both the Foodies and the 'Write about Ransome or Nothing Gang' ('WRONG'), of which I am happy to be Headmoaner.
