Yes, indeed, but there is also rather more to the Mixed Moss article in question. Eg, the author points out that the five shillings which John spends on rope and grog in Rio (in S&A) "was about half a labourer's daily wage". That strikes me as a somewhat 'Marxist' observation - it is no doubt correct, but my reaction is - So what?
