Yes, it does seem unlikely that they wouldn't remember their own birthdays (let along the newest arrival!)

As for Roger being 'no longer the youngest' - AR was fairly upfront about this being a device: the awareness and limited inclusion of a younger sibling allows Roger a degree of autonomy, discovery and status within the group that may have seemed improbable for a youngest sibling.
