A polite query from Wayne Hammond has led me to check the Guardian
of 21st July 1930: I find to my embarrassment that there was no
review by AR on that date of a book on folk-lore. Wayne points out
that there was a review on 19th August 1930 of The Science of Folklore
by A.H. Krappe, and it was probably of that review that I was thinking. The
general point (AR's interest in folklore from many different
traditions from Old Peter to Anansi) remains, of course, undisturbed.
