The Japanese are very big on models and especially the older steam
locomotives. Wandering round what was supposed to be an electrical
goods store recently I came across a whole area of beautiful models
such as the one you illustrate. Some of the more elaborate ones
selling price was into the thousands of US$.
As of a week or so ago there was the annual 'Spring schedule change"
at which time the last of the BLUE TRAINS (overnight sleepers) were
phased out. There were more people/photographers on the platform than in the train and particularly the latter lined up at various vantage points along the route to take photos of the 'last run".
Not sure if even I can find out anything about the C-62/Swallow
connection but I'll give it a try.
