Eric - we have a steam train society at the foot of our hill, and once in a while their trains use the commuter line to take trips away. Hence we get the really traditional steam train sounds at about six in the morning, generally on a very still Sunday. Echoing back from the larger back hills of the area, the puffs, the whistles, the hoots - very very evocative!
