Not stars as such, just fellow travellers on the same road.

I am delighted to be considered a Ransome devotee, but one that is still trying after many years to get as much understanding as possible from these twelve stories. This comes from the contributions of so many on this forum that are likewise greatly involved in Ransome's works, and are willing to share their observations and points of view with others. Not being English, my own view has to be from that of a foreigner, one that is not familiar with the customs and speech that are normal to those more personally familiar to that territory. So some things that I puzzle over are amazingly obvious to the more local oriented contributors, and it is their understanding and explanations that are so valuable.

As for any recent misunderstandings let us simply say that is what it was, just misunderstandings, and leave it at that. Let us move onward and upward, together, making yet more discoveries and sharing these with fellow travellers on this forum as we persue our admiration for All Things Ransome.

There is still a lot to be learned that we can teach each other even as we are being taught.

Let us be glad that Ransome did not write these twelve in Russian. Somehow "Shiver my timbers" in that mode of speech might have a rather strange translation. So let us be thankful for small favors.
