On BBC2 last night there was a ten-minute filler programme about a lady's love for Squam Lake NH, location of "On Golden Pond". There was an amusing sequence of a territorial battle of loons, made even more amusing by a change of background music to what seemed to me to be a bluegrass hillbilly stomp as one enraged loon "saw off" his rival.
