Your comment about Maurice Griffiths sent me to my copy of "The Magic of the Swatchways" (kindly given me by Andrew Craig-Bennett who frequents this board) to re-read the chapter where he and his wife sail her yawl across the Channel. And it is true that this is not the type of sailing he was most fond of. In that chapter he calls her Peter.
The link is his obituary with added description of the scattering and a later event comemmorating the centenary of his birth. Therein his wife is named Marjorie and said to have died several months before Maurice. Is Marjorie Peter? Well my wife has an aunt who is called Pete but that's not her real name. Nor, however, is it Marjorie.
