I assume Peter means Coniston Parish Council (writes our local government correspondent). With regard to the next tier, Coniston is governed at present by South Lakeland District Council, and before that (I think) by Lancashire County Council.
(This is a nit-picking post, but at least it gets away from AIDS. I should add that there is nothing 'buttoned-up' about this thread!)
