Pam said: "stay children forever"

This is the beauty of our relationship with these children. When we first met them, perhaps we were but children ourselves, and these characters became to be among our best friends. We got to know them, to see how they think, and even to anticipate what reaction a certain one would make in a particular situation. We knew them as close friends. They were our playmates. In our minds we went camping and sailing with them. And they were dependable, in that when we wanted to play, they seemed to be alway ready to have an adventure and let us share in the fun.

Even as our own ages progressed, and we became more adult in our views, perhaps the pressures of job and adult responsibilities slowed down the frequency of our slipping off to be with those special friends. But the magic of it all was than when we did decide to go back and visit with those dear friends of our now long past childhood, they were still there, just as we remembered them to be, and what was even more important, we could join back in with them, and, become young again ourselves.

I am glad they never grew up. I'm not ready to do that either. I like being able to be young again, and share in their adventures, again, and again. So they stay forever young, and when I am with them, so am I.

They were, and still are, very dear friends of mine, that can be counted on to be there when we need them.

And that is what friends are for.
