On "queue-jumpers": The motivation may not be queue-jumping at all, as it has to do with Tarboard placing the most-recent post first. It tends to happen to me when someone posts something, and then someone else posts a reply. I come along and want to post a reply to the original message not to the previous reply -- especially if the previous reply veered a little off subject -- so I reply to the original message.
And now my reply shows up above the earlier reply, just under the original message (until someone else does the same thing, of course).
Better etiquette might be to reply to the reply but begin with something like "With respect to xxxxxx's original posting..." or assume that the relationship of my reply to the preceding one and the original message would be obvious in context. Which is probably true.
