One of my favorite scenes as I have mentioned before, comes from Coot Club. I find the whole sequence of the twins trying to catch up with the Teasel to be very suspenseful and imaginative and I think it is my favorite extended AR narrative.

I too prefer the lake books and The Big Six is not one of my favorites, but I always liked Coot Club. Part of the reason for that may be that I first read it in the American Lippencott edition with the absolutely magical maps and illustrations by Helene Carter. I am still disappointed with the Amazon publication of "Illustrating Ransome" for not showing some of her maps or better illustrations. I have acquired all of her AR Lippencott editions through E-Bay. My scanner doesn't work with my newer computer, but somewhere I have a couple of favorite illustrations that I may post to the Yahoo Tarboard page. One is from Coot Club, "Tom came sailing home", and the other is Nancy arriving at the north pole in "Winter Holiday". While I do love AR's illustrations too, the Carter ones formed an important part of my love of the books.
