My husband, who thinks he knows a lot about sailing, was reading a how to sail book on the weekend. Since I am not a sailor from way back, one of the terms was unfamiliar to me and I asked him to explain it. He claimed that I should know what it meant because it had been used in some of the Swallows and Amazons books. Now, I may not be a sailor but I've read the books more often than he has and for the life of me I can''t remember the term being used. has anyone seen the term "in irons" in one of the books and, if you can remember, which one/s was it in?
